Six years ago today, I went to the Exposition Park Rose Garden near downtown Los Angeles with my ex. We had a wonderful time that day as we rolled along to the end of things between us. The garden, however, reminded me of one of the rose gardens in Portland, Ore., I used to visit in the late ‘90s. I’d spend hours in that garden, and it became my special spot when I lived in downtown Portland. And yes, I’ll always be partial to black V-neck T-shirts. It was one of those Disney Days with friends, rides, a winter snowstorm, fireworks and more. Considering my last major Disney Resort moment was 1995's RV senior class trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, I didn't think I'd have another Disney moment anytime soon. You hold forth against the destruction of the environment and never notice — or try to clear — the hazy skies and deforested spaces within you. I still surrender — gratefully — to the latest congressional sex scandal or celebrity memoir whenever I’m killing time waiting for a plane, even though I know that any book by D. H.
