During the pandemic, when some of Nick Cannon’s lovers began to express anxiety about their biological clocks, he obliged. “A lot of them are in the same age group,” he says. “I just wanted to give them what they desired. I kept saying, ‘I can handle it.’” https://t.co/Zfc3EgUOWv

Six years ago today, I went to the Exposition Park Rose Garden near downtown Los Angeles with my ex. We had a wonderful time that day as we rolled along to the end of things between us. The garden, however, reminded me of one of the rose gardens in Portland, Ore., I used to visit in the late ‘90s. I’d spend hours in that garden, and it became my special spot when I lived in downtown Portland. And yes, I’ll always be partial to black V-neck T-shirts. They are a wardrobe staple. 🌹🌹🌹🌹 Thanks for the memories, iPhone. #memories #la #losangeles #roses #portland #oregon #expositionpark #tb

Ah, I’m on “L.A. Times Today” for a split second. But it’s all about my dear friend @chataignestyle, who’s weighing in on life, fashion and more. 📸: Mark D. Talgo #latimes #latimestoday #style #fashion

Dreaming about a long trip to another country. I’ve got the itch again. Malta is on my mind. I’ve never been there, but it certainly looks nice. #future #travel #malta

@sleasca wrote the cover story for this week’s Saturday section of the @latimes. It’s about kissing! Do you miss it, especially if you’ve been in isolation for months? If so, you’re not alone. Link in bio. #latimes

Last week, I wrote a very short item on Facebook about police shootings and race and racism and where we are today. And then I did what I know: I kept writing, and those initial ideas turned into something much longer and fleshed out. I thought I was writing something for myself but I ended up deciding to share it with you. And, well, here it is. I'll let it speak for itself. (Please share it if you wouldn't mind. Thank you.) A version of it is on page 2 of tomorrow's Saturday section. Link in bio. #latimes #latimesfashion (Illustration by @fluellendesign / @latimes)

Play dress-up! Style these paper dolls in summer 2020 corona-fashion. We made these paper dolls for you, and they come with all of the latest looks and accessories for the new season. Read my story. Nothing like easing into the weekend with this bright light. 💡 Thank you, @oprah, and I look forward to next Saturday’s Your Life in Focus session. I’m happy I’m able to revisit some of the topics that were covered at the Forum in Inglewood in February. This is just what I needed today, and I think I’ve said that for the last nine years — every time our paths cross online or in person. (I took this screenshot on my iPad while I was in bed relaxing, learning and thinking about the new normal this morning.) #oprah #virtual #tour #covid19 #ww #weightwatchers #zoom

I had to stop by the office on Friday for a five-hour IT appointment. And yes, I’m smiling at you! 😃😃😃 #selfie #covid #covid19indonesia

Thank you for those wonderful six seasons. What a beautiful finale. My deputy editor said to me a couple of years ago, “You need to watch this show. I think you’ll love it.” And he was absolutely right. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ #schittscreek

Sometimes it’s the beauty of your surroundings — the natural beauty of California — that gives you hope during a crisis. #hope #coronavirus #covid19 #walk #walking

The grocery store awaits. We’re six feet apart. My first day outside in eight days. Oh, joy. But there is hope. I hear someone say, “We’re all in this together.” #corona #coronavirus

Happy 22nd anniversary to the album that changed my life when I was in a very dark moment in college. When I met @madonna two years ago, I said to her, “Thank you for ‘Ray of Light.’” She seemed surprised. #madonna #raylight

Last weekend was my first time in Santa Barbara. (It only took me about seven years to get there, but who’s counting?) I was there for a Mardi Gras party at the home of some friends. I ❤️ SB! #santabarbara #mardigras

I’m spending Saturday with #Oprah. Nothing better than this. It’s just what I needed. #2020vision #oprahs2020visiontour #saturday #saturdayvibes

What a night. It was like going to the Oscars, Grammys, SAG Awards, Golden Globes, etc. Uber A-list with Jeff Bezos, Lil Nas X, Anna Wintour, J.Lo and A-Rod, Kris Jenner, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet, Catherine O’Hara, Matt Bomer, Miley Cyrus, Jon Hamm, Ciara and Russell Wilson, Renée Zellweger, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham, Nina Garcia and the list goes on ... And I could keep naming. And the fall/winter 2020 collection is fabulous! So many beautiful pieces. #tomford

Thank you, @rutgers_alumni, Lori, Fran and @rmcabana, for the wonderful story. I love it! I’m proud to be a Rutgers alumnus and a former editor in chief of the @dailytargum. (I’m going to send a copy to my parents.) ❤️ #rutgers

Can’t sleep. I blame the nap earlier this evening. Or maybe it’s excitement. A new day has come ... in many ways here in L.A. for me. And I 💯% can’t wait. #losangeles #sleep #sleepmatters #tanktopsmatter #bedroomselfie #newday #selfcare #selfie #thecomeback

My friends have some really interesting art on display in their home in New Jersey. 🏡 Of course, I spotted the various fashion-related pieces. For a quick backstory, I was last at their home when they bought the place five or so years ago. It went through a total transformation. I finally returned at the start of 2020 for a post-party sleepover. #friends #newyeas #sleepover #louisvuitton #art

Paris. November 2019. I walked more than three miles from @fondationlv, past the Arc de Triomphe and then along the Champs-Élysées to this very spot. I first stood here when I was 15 years old. (What I didn’t know then but I know now is that Flamme de la Liberté has a very deep connection to journalism. Also, on more recent trips to Paris, I’ve found myself taking a moment to think about Diana, Princess of Wales, who was killed in 1997 in the tunnel seen here.) #paris #france #fondationlv #flammedelaliberté #life

So my iPhone didn't die. I guess I can say it had a stroke. I was able to revive it. It's a miracle.

I guess my iPhone just experienced its true death right when I needed to make a call. The screen turned red and faded to grey with white bars. If you must reach me, do so by carrier pigeon. And you can send your condolences to Marques Harper in Los Angeles with a check or money order. My iPhone's favorite charity was the Marques Harper Fund for the Advancement of Writing and Stories.

It was one of those Disney Days with friends, rides, a winter snowstorm, fireworks and more. Considering my last major Disney Resort moment was 1995's RV senior class trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, I didn't think I'd have another Disney moment anytime soon. This holiday season, in which I was troubled with a major stomach flu and a sinus infection and allergies, I finally made it to Disneyland in Anaheim and I loved every minute of it including hanging with Jen and Sherise, running into Snoop Dogg and his crew, the brilliant late-night Mickey Mouse light show on the lake, the magical snowstorm and fireworks and that crazy big ice cream sundae I devoured in minutes. Sometimes you just have to let yourself feel like a kid again.

Healthy Body, Unhealthy Mind

I gave up Big Macs and started exercising. But I was neglecting my inner life.

"The only problem with such visible bounty, though, is that it becomes ever easier to feel, within yourself, like a gridlocked freeway at rush hour with no overpasses or offramps in sight. You start railing against fascism, as W. H. Auden suggested, and become a dictator at the family dinner table. You hold forth against the destruction of the environment and never notice — or try to clear — the hazy skies and deforested spaces within you. I still surrender — gratefully — to the latest congressional sex scandal or celebrity memoir whenever I’m killing time waiting for a plane, even though I know that any book by D. H. Lawrence or Marcel Proust will leave me feeling more alive, more myself, more in love with the world. And even as I keep my distance from McDonald’s now, I have no hesitation in racing off toward organic, locally sourced, “food with integrity” Chipotle outlets instead. A life of daily visits to the gym demands some guilty pleasures."

Another day, another screening. Finally something light and fun: "How to Train Your Dragon 2."
